Service Description
Fight Lab Live: London is a four-day, hands-on intensive led by professional fight coordinator Caleb Spillyards, creator of Fight Lab. Caleb specialises in cinematic action for film and television. His fight-coordination credits include Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts and Ballerina: From the World of John Wick. His stunt-team credits include Spider-Man: No Way Home, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Hawkeye, among many others. The workshop breaks down the process of designing and filming screen action—from blocking and choreography to camera design, shooting the action and understanding how those decisions come together in the edit. Participants won’t just watch: they’ll get hands-on with a camera, block and shoot action themselves, and receive real-time coaching and feedback. Through Fight Lab, Caleb teaches how choreography, camera design, performance, editing and sound work together to make action feel visceral, intentional and cinematic. Day 1 — Technical Foundations Day 2 — Character-Driven Fight Design Day 3 — Camera Design Framework Day 4 — extends the experience with TAKA: bringing the ideas into a practical action-performance integration. Thursday 10 December: 9:00 am–5:00 pm Friday 11 December: 10:00 am–5:00 pm Saturday 12 December: 10:00 am–5:00 pm Sunday 13 December: 10:00 am–5:00 pm Caleb will share his approach to camera design: choosing angles, positioning the camera, deciding what each shot needs to communicate and building coverage that makes the action clear and compelling on screen. For stunt performers, this is an opportunity to extend physical performance skills into action design and camera-aware storytelling. For filmmakers and videographers, it offers a practical foundation for staging action with performers and filming movement in harmony with the physical story. You don’t need years of stunt experience to take part as a filmmaker; the focus is on learning a process you can apply, rather than copying shots. Participants with their own cameras or filming equipment are also encouraged to bring if they’d like to practise with its specific settings and system. If you do not have your own camera however we will provide a equipment for you. DISCLAIMER: This workshop is designed for people with some experience in performance, movement, martial arts or filmmaking, so it may not be suitable for absolute beginners. Filmmakers don’t need previous stunt experience. If you’re unsure whether the workshop is right for you,
